'Mortal Kombat X' Xbox 360, PS3 Gameplay, Updates: Characters Unmasked Thanks to Mod [Watch]
"Mortal Kombat X" has been an extreme success.
With addicting gameplay, familiar and new characters and tons of bonus content, the fighting game has been one of the year's hottest titles. Thanks to a modification (mod), characters who wear masks now are revealing their faces, Game Rant reports.
YouTube user Dynasty showed off the mod in a clip on the video-sharing site. With the mod, players can see what popular characters like Sub-Zero and Erron Black look like unmasked.
This mod follows an earlier mod that showed the bonus character Jason without his hockey mask. Jason did not look as gruesome unmasked as he did in the movies, but he still looked awfully gross. This new mod shows every masked character without their mask.
The mod is available as a download and it is homemade, meaning "Mortal Kombat X" developers did not create it. For those that do not want to download the player-made mod, the YouTube video does a pretty good job of showing the characters without masks.
With the mod, players can see Sub-Zero, Erron Black and Ferra Torr without masks. The mod even shows off unplayable characters like Rain and Smoke without their masks. Each character's face has its own unique features, which could mean that "Mortal Kombat X" developers could be releasing an official unmasked patch of their own as downloadable content (DLC).
The mod is only available for PC users and it is uncertain if it'll become available for Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, and Xbox One users.
"Mortal Kombat X" is very popular and players are enjoying the added characters that have been released through DLC over the past several months. There have been hints of more added characters, especially Rain and Smoke, being added as future DLC.
Be sure to follow Ed Boon, the creator of "Mortal Kombat" who frequently tweets juicy news and hints for the game, on Twitter.
