David Cassidy's drinking problem spiraled so deeply out of control the former "Partridge Family" heartthrob "couldn't comprehend conversations or remember details about work related issues."

Those are some of the claims made by Cassidy's former, longtime manager in a deposition that's part of a suit by a Florida law firm suing him over unpaid legal fees. The Rodier & Rodier law practice first filed suit against Cassidy in 2013 after helping to defend him in a $1 million legal dispute with an ex-business associate in the race horse business.

According to Radar Online, attorneys for the company contend they were able to help Cassidy settle the case for $60,000 before trial, but he then reneged on the $102,834 he owed the firm in legal fees.

In court documents Jo Ann Geffen identified herself as Cassidy's former publicist and manager for 16 years, adding when the time came to payoff Rodier, he simply didn't have the means to do so. Geffen also told the court that over the years Cassidy's problems with drug and alcohol often rendered him unable to recall or remember things.

Cassidy is claiming he satisfied his end of his agreement with Rodier and demanding the lawsuit be thrown out. The legal battle has been pending since 2013, and both sides are currently participating in the discovery phase of the case.

At just 21-years-old, Cassidy was the world's highest-paid performer. At his height, sold over 30 million records, largely based in such hits as "I Think I Love You."

Nowadays, all that seems like a distant time away, as Cassidy recently declared for bankruptcy and early next month is slated to auction off his Fort Lauderdale, Florida, estate. In all, Cassidy is rumored to be hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, including a $292,598 mortgage and almost $40,000 on credit cards -- and has scores of creditors clamoring to be paid.
