‘Dr. Who’ Releases Amazing New Trailer for Season 9 [Watch]
In the new trailer released for Season 9 of "Dr. Who," the action is less focused on the appearance of "Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams and more focused on the electrifying action of the forthcoming season, according to the Los Angeles Times.
There is very little known about the role Williams will play in the series, but showrunner Steven Moffat has promised that it will be significant. This is quite a turn of events given that her character has been listed as a guest star and will not be a permanent member of the cast, at least not yet.
"It's a significant role," Moffatt said at this year's TCA event. "We're not throwing her away. We're not just getting star value and doing nothing with it. It's a great part, and she's terrific in it."
With that in mind, the new trailer features less of Williams character and more on the season's action. Monsters and aliens of all kinds come out in the realm and the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) fights them in full force with absolutely no fear and total confidence.
"I save lives. That's what I do," Capaldi's character said in the trailer.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the trailer is chocked full of classic "Dr. Who" moments, which includes monstrous dragons, Zygons, a creepy hand with an eyeball in it and much more. Fans can even see Capaldi doing an impression of Queen's Brian May.
Michelle Gomez's character Missy is in the trailer and her villainous ego makes waves. Jenna Coleman's character Clara is also present, telling Williams character not to worry, that the Doctor always has a brilliant plan in store for whatever they are up against.
Season 9 of the long-running series that has been reincarnated in various forms over the years will premiere on BBC America Saturday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. EDT.
