Boxing News 2015: Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzales Eyeing Knockout Win Against Brian Viloria
World Boxing Council flyweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez believes he can defeat Brian "The Hawaiian Punch" Viloria via a knockout win when they face each other on October 17, at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Beating Edgar Sosa via a 3rd round stoppage in May in Los Angeles must have truly boosted Gonzalez's confidence. The three-time world champion boldly stated that Viloria's hard hitting punches won't be enough to put him down, Boxing Scene reported.
"Viloria is good, he hits hard. After the sixth round, he'll slow down. He has a very good crossover right, but he's not a boxer who can move. If you can not dance and have no legs, I will find you. He goes toe to toe because that's his style of fighting. We have faced similar opponents, and I was able to knock them out," Gonzalez said.
Thus, Gonzalez is determined to test his theory when they clash in the Big Apple this fall, and perhaps, the best way for Viloria to prevent Gonzalez's plans from happening is to be the first one to knock out the undefeated boxer. But Gonzalez's unbeaten record is tough to match and aside from that, the Nicaraguan also gave 37 of his opponents devastating KO losses.
"My mission is to knock him out and keep proving that I am the best in the world in my class, so I'll go to prepare in Big Bear in the camp of Gennady Golovkin," Gonzalez declared.
Meanwhile, Viloria, who has consecutively won four of his fights recently, knows the risks, and he is not afraid of the rising superstar.
"The Hawaiian Punch" told ESPN that he had already faced and even defeated some of the world's "best of the best," making him a threat to Gonzalez.
"And this fight against Roman Gonzalez is likely to be my biggest challenge yet. But it's Roman's biggest challenge too," the Filipino-American boxer, who posts a win-loss record of 36-4 and 22 knockouts, said.
In July, Viloria came out from a 1st round stoppage victory after dropping Omar Soto three times within two minutes at the Florentine Gardens in California, Bad Left Hook reported.
