Sharon Stone Talks About Brain Damage and Posing Nude
In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, actress and model Sharon Stone opened up about herself after experiencing one of the scariest moments of her life. She also posed naked for the magazine in a very revealing article.
Stone started off by talking about her experience in a career comeback, playing the role of an assistant district attorney on "Law & Order: SVU" back in 2010. She said she had trouble remembering her lines and some of those issues stemmed from a horrible incident she experienced back in 2001.
In 2001, Stone suffered a brain aneurysm and, eventually, a cerebral hemorrhage that would last for nine days. This essentially forced her brain to move to the front part of her face stemming from a ruptured vertebral artery that caused her brain to bleed.
Following a corrective surgery for the condition, she got it repaired with 22 platinum coils on the artery. But it was after the whole escapade that her life began falling apart.
When she was leaving the hospital, she could not feel her left leg. She said she even developed a stutter. She could not read and the condition left her emotionally unstable. She and her husband at the time eventually divorced and she lost custody of her adopted son.
But most of her physical issues began to heal over time. There were, however, some residual effects that ultimately changed her.
"I became more emotionally intelligent. I chose to work very hard to open up other parts of my mind," Stone told Harper's. "Now I'm stronger. And I can be abrasively direct. That scares people, but I think that's not my problem. It's like, I have brain damage; you'll just have to deal with it."
Stone also posed nude for the magazine and she said that she is more okay with it now than she was in her younger years.
"I'm aware that my ass looks like a bag of flapjacks," Stone said. "But I'm not trying to be the best-looking broad in the world."
