In an interview with Collider, actor Patrick Stewart has confirmed a rumor that fans of the "X-Men" franchise may like to hear. Stewart revealed that Professor Xavier is slated to play a role in "Wolverine 3," and not just an appearance as previously thought.

"There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me," Stewart told Collider.

Although the character of Professor X has shown up in both previous installments of the solo "Wolverine" films, both appearances were only in the post-film credits. This indicates that his role will be in the meat of the film this time.

But that is not the only news coming out about the new "Wolverine" film, which is said to be the last one that will feature Hugh Jackman in the titular role.

The new film is expected to see Logan (Jackman) getting old. This, of course, directly contradicts what has been inherent to the powers of Wolverine's mutant abilities. He is supposed to have the same abilities as that of the fictional Dorian Grey, where he can not only cheat death and extend his giant claws on demand, but he is also supposed to be immortal in the sense that he cannot age.

This, of course, is a must if his character is unable to die. Age is the one thing that all humans and animals alike cannot save themselves from. As time goes by, age creeps up on living people and eventually leads to death. So if the Wolverine were to age, then that means that he can die.

That is a revealing detail for fans of the film series. This not only means that his mutant abilities are failing, but Logan can in some way die in the film, if he gets old.

Entertainment Weekly reports that this could not only be the end of Jackman's run portraying the character, but it could also be the end of the character himself.
