'The Blacklist' Season 3 Spoilers: Liz and Red On the Run, NBC Announces Premiere Date Change
NBC has announced that its dark psychological series “The Blacklist” will premiere its third season on Oct. 1.
As reported by Variety, the reason behind this new schedule change, which pushes the James Spader-starring show a week later, is to make room for an expanded two hour reboot of “Heroes” called “Heroes Reborn,” which will air on Sept. 24.
This extra week of waiting will perhaps give "Blacklist” fans a bit more time to get ready for what promises to be a totally new show. Actress Megan Boone, who plays Agent Liz Keen on the series, already made it clear that things would be radically different when she returns, telling Zapt2it, “Season 3 is going to be the same characters but a different show, a very different dynamic.”
As Boone explains, this is due to the fact that “now Liz Keen is no longer working within the law.”
Viewers will recall that in the final frames of season 2's last episode Liz and Reddington (James Spader) drove off together to face an unknown future.
As reported in another Zap2it piece, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt is corroborating Boone’s assertion that things will be different. “The trajectory of the story is great because it’s a switch-up from what the format has been,” he says, adding that Liz and Reddington “are literally on the run together.”
Enthused about the new kind of action to come, Geenblatt says, “It’s going to energize the whole thing. It’s a different feel this year.”
Greenblatt describes the characters of Liz and Red as “locked together.”
“We’re only into the early few episodes, but I think it’s a really fun, new direction,” he exclaims.
Speaking about the upcoming season in a season 3 promo, Spader says “It sort of throws all the pieces up in the air.”
“The Blacklist” returns to NBC on Oct. 1.
