NBC Orders Comedy Series from DC Comics
NBC has put in a pilot order for comedy series "Powerless," which takes on a theme similar to their powerhouse comedy "The Office."
The only difference is, this takes place in an insurance office and it is also set in the world of DC Comics, according to Deadline.
But wait! For those of you comic book superhero fans that want to see all the superheroes in action, rest assured that is going to happen. It just won't be up close and personal like you have seen in the past with films like "Superman" and "Batman."
Instead, this series will take the point-of-view of the average person who works in a dead end job that he/she hates. These people will be the average Joes and Janes that see the superheroes in action and take on the emotions of jealousy.
The comedy occurs in the workplace, the insurance agency which has been described as "one of the worst insurance companies in America."
Just imagine characters played by Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson trudging around an office all day while mayhem and triumph flies around outside their office windows for all of them to see. They stay tuned to their daily tasks as working schmucks, but they secretly fantasize about being the powerful superheroes they see day in and day out.
The show is said to feature classic superheroes from the DC brand, but it is not likely to see some of their biggest names appear in the show such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman or The Flash.
Fans of the DC brand will notice some quite recognizable characters flying around the city in what will apparently be cameos. It is undetermined at this point which characters will be featured in the new series, but the top theme for the show has been listed as a comedy and that will be the primary focus.
The series will be a single camera comedy from creator Ben Queen, who also created the series "A to Z."
