‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Season 3 Spoilers: The New Captain Has Been Named
Although Andre Braugher's Captain Holt has not been removed from "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," he has been removed from the office of captain.
Last season, a vendetta against him got him a promotion that led him to a less than desirable role in the NYPD's public relations department.
Now that his position has been vacated by the promotion, there is a new player in town and his character comes in the form of "SNL" alum Bill Hader, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Hader, who just starred in the Amy Schumer flick "Trainwreck" and the Kristen Wiig film "The Skeleton Twins," will guest star in the premiere episode on Sept. 27. This of course leads fans to believe that his temporary status as a guest star means that Holt might be making his way back to the nine-nine precinct at some point, given that his character is still very much a part of the show and the unique comedy between him and Jake (Andy Samberg) would be a shame to waste.
However, TV Guide reports that Hader's status on the show may be a guest star, but he is also listed as recurring throughout the season. So that may put a kink in the fans expectations to bring Holt back to the Captain's chair at the nine-nine unit.
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has been a unique show that has featured the talents of many "Saturday Night Live" alumni, with Samberg being the main character that has driven the laughter for this powerhouse Fox comedy.
There has been no word yet what Hader's character will be called, just that he will be taking over as the new captain for the unit in the premiere and in an undetermined amount of episodes beyond that.
The Wrap reports that his character has only been described as "efficient." Their source also said that Hader has not been brought on as a permanent replacement for Holt on the show.
