Ronda Rousey's profile has risen mightily over the years, with the undefeated UFC Women's Bantamweight champion not only gaining respect for her professional abilities in the ring, but also in front of the camera.

However, Rousey, a perennial winner, is aiming as high as it gets and is seemingly lobbying to be Captain Marvel in the upcoming superhero films.

Her main means to build support: Instagram. The actress recently put up a few fan-made pictures of her donning the outfit.

"Since the reddit AMA 'I've received so many bad*ss Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel edits! There were so many cool ones I couldn't pick just one to share - here's 1 series of 2 Big thank you to contributing artists: @bosslogix (two on right) and @salman.artworks (left)," Rousey posted.

She then added a second post with art by @alexmurilloart and Hugo Dourado.

Rousey has made some high-profile appearances in major Hollywood productions. She was in "The Expendables 3," "Fast & Furious 7" and "Entourage." She is currently working on "Mile 22" with Mark Wahlberg and is slated to star in a biopic about herself.

The character of Captain Marvel has gone through a number of different iterations over the year. The first version was a male known as Mar-Vell. The second was Monica Rambeau, the first female iteration of the superhero. She was followed by Genis-Vell, his sister Phyla-Vell, Khn'nr, Noh-Varr and Carol Danvers as the alter-egos for the character.

Danvers is expected to be the character showcased in Marvel's upcoming film, which is scheduled for a 2018 release. Danvers was formerly known as Ms. Marvel before assuming the mantle of Captain Marvel.

Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are tasked with writing the script for the hotly anticipated movie, according to the Marvel website. Perlman was a writer on Marvel's big hit "Guardians of the Galaxy" while LeFauve was a writer on Disney-Pixar's "Inside Out."
