NBC confirmed to People magainze that Selena Gomez is set to join Season 9 of "The Voice" as an advisor for Gwen Stefani's team.

The news was also announced on Monday via "The Voice's" official Twitter account.

In response, Stefani released a statement praising Gomez for her evolution from a child star into a pop singer.

"The dedication and the years that she's put in and to only be so young but have so much experience is kind of incredible," Stefani told Access Hollywood.

"I can feel her energy and like what she's doing right now, she's really blossoming and really coming to her own. She's really being honest and finding herself," said Stefani, who is set to return to the hit reality after a one-season hiatus.

Gomez also released a statement, saying: "I'm learning a lot being here. I've been in a transition period with my music, so it is inspiring. I love being in the presence of women, especially women who are so comfortable in their own skin and support other women," reports

Furthermore, the former Disney star told Access Hollywood that she is looking forward to working with Stefani.

"I always feel like when I'm in the presence of someone older than me, I have this respect and I love that I can learn. I want to learn from people, I want to be around women who are, you know, nurturing and care and smart and creative," she said.

This will be the first appearance on the reality singing competition for the "Come and Get It" singer. She will be joined by rock legend John Fogerty, who has been appointed as the team adviser for Adam Levine, and Brad Paisley, who is set to become the mentor for Blake Shelton's team, People reported.

Meanwhile, superstar Rihanna will serve as the show's key adviser for the upcoming season.

Season 9 of "The Voice" will debut on NBC on Sept. 21.
