NBA All Star 2014: Dwayne Wade Will Skip Game Because of Injury?
The NBA All-Star Game is all set this coming Sunday at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. However, due to his injuries, Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade may be forced sit out of the game, CBS Miami reports.
The NBA superstar already missed last Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors, making it his 15th missed game of the season. According to Wade, he felt numbness in his left leg during warm-ups and he was diagnosed with foot drop, a condition which prevents a person from lifting the front part of his or her foot.
When asked about his injury, he said, "It's one of the most bizarre things. Hopefully, the numbness wears off more and more as it started to do throughout the game and throughout the rest of the night. First, I want this to calm down a little bit and get back to feeling regular and I will go from there. I'm not optimistic, I'm not pessimistic. I just wanna get better."
The 2010 NBA All-Star Game MVP was included as a starter for the Eastern Conference roster along with Cleveland Cavalier's Kyrie Irving, Indiana Pacers' Paul George, New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony, and his teammate LeBron James.
However, if Wade is unable to play on Sunday, a replacement will be called in by the league office. Many people are saying that Indiana Pacers' shooting guard Lance Stephenson may be a suitable substitute for Wade due to his impressive performance during the first half of the season.
But Wade is still keen on flying to New Orleans to play in the All-Star Game despite his condition. But if he does play, he'll probably spend more time on the bench resting instead of on the court to minimize the risk of further injuring himself.
Wade's current condition has raised a lot of questions regarding LeBron becoming a free agent since the two are among the best duos in the NBA, as reported by articles on SunSentinel. His absence due to injuries has caused LeBron to double his efforts to bring their team to victory.
