Gene Simmons' Home Raided: Police Seize Kiss Front Man's Computers in Child Pornography Investigation
The Los Angeles police department (LAPD) Internet Crime Against Children Task Force, which focuses on Internet crimes against children, executed a search warrant on rock band KISS bass guitarist Gene Simmons' home on Thursday, reports CNN.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that police seized computers and other evidence because someone downloaded child pornography either on one of the computers or by using the family's Internet access.
"No members of the Simmons family are suspects in the case and were extremely cooperative," Lt. John Jenal of the LAPD told CNN.
The rocker's publicist, Cheyanne Baker, said in a statement to CNN that the task force is looking into a crime that may have happened at the family's property last year while Simmons was away on tour with KISS.
Authorities have asked Simmons and his family not to discuss the case due to the ongoing investigation, according to Baker.
Simmons' wife, Shannon Tweed, tweeted on Thursday, "Thanks for your support. We couldn't be more horrified that someone used our residence for such heinous crimes. Law enforcement is on it."
Shortly thereafter, she issued another tweet, "Goodnight and don't forget to change your passwords!!"
Simmons is best known as a front man of the rock band Kiss which he co-founded in the early 1970s. The band stepped out of the limelight in the late 1990s but resurfaces now and again to perform. In 2014, the band performed along with Caleb Johnson on the "American Idol" Season 13 finale.
At Lucky Strike in Hollywood, California on Sunday, Aug. 16, Simmons joined actor Johnny Depp, former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke and Mr. Big drummer Matt Starr to perform a charity concert. He performed two Kiss classics, "Deuce" and "Rock and Roll All Nite."
Simmons is also a singer-songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur and television personality.
He starred in the A&E reality television show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" that documented life with his wife, Canadian former Playboy Playmate and actress, and their 26-year-old son Nick and daughter Sophie, 23.
