The final episode in the "Hannibal" series gives way to hope that it will be revived on another network or streaming platform. The series finale for the show is titled "The Wrath of the Lamb" and will air on NBC next Saturday, Aug. 29 at 10 p.m. EDT, according to TV Guide.

What has becomes quite clear with this series is that it will stop at nothing to remain true to the source material laid out by Thomas Harris in his hit novels from the '80s. But at the same time, it has changed several elements of the characters, as seen last week on the show.

This week, fans will have to say goodbye to the morbidly grotesque show that has become a cultural phenomenon for most. The episode features the end of the Red Dragon storyline and the end of the series as well.

According to Spoilers Guide, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) launches a desperate ploy to find and slay the killer known as the Red Dragon, which is Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage). Using Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) as a ploy, Graham engineers the path to his desire.

The genius plan seeks to end the threat Dolarhyde poses to Graham and his family once and for all. He does this even though he has been warned by his psychiatrist Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) that his plan could ultimately lead to the deaths of the people close to him, including his family, Jack and Alana.

Graham's own psychosis is at stake here as well. The end draws near for the show and for Graham himself, where he will ultimately be looking through the periscope of his own worst fears.

As reported by Collider, the last episode featured the destruction of Frederick Chilton, which differs from the Harris account in the novel. Freddy Lounds lives another day to tell about it as well, given that she was part of the plan that got him killed.
