'Under The Dome' Props for Sale, Series Will Relocate if Renewed
Fans of the CBS sci-fi drama "Under the Dome" will soon be able to own a piece of the show. The show's studio will be hosting a prop sale at the end of August.
According to the Triangle Business Journal, the studio where the show has filmed for the past three seasons, EUE/Screen Gems, confirmed that they will be hosting a cash-only sale from Aug. 27-29 in Wilmington.
CBS Studios announced that it will no longer be filming in North Carolina because of the limited funds that are now available for filming grants in the state. The show reportedly received half of the $10 million available for grants but will be moving on if the show is picked up for another season.
At a press conference for his upcoming new SyFy channel mini-series, "Childhood's End," star Mike Vogel discussed the upcoming change of location for the CBS show, reported Star News Online.
"We're going to miss Wilmington," said Vogel. "It's a fantastic town. That crew has become like family. They have such a great history of entertainment there."
When asked where the show would be filming, Vogel said he had no idea, but explained that he is very excited about the possibility of a new location and where that would take the show.
"The idea is to maybe look at some landscape changes, but again, that's anybody's guess where we go from here," added Vogel.
CBS has yet to announce a renewal or official cancellation, but the show's producers have reportedly written the Season 3 finale as a potential series finale just in case. The dome, which is the show's main focus, will be coming down, possibly bringing the series to a conclusion.
"[The dome coming down] opens up a host of other storytelling opportunities, you just don't know what will happen when the dome comes down," said CBS entertainment chairman Nina Tassler at the Television Critics Association's press tour.
The "Under the Dome" Season 3 finale will air on Sept. 10.
