With the release of "Divergent" just around the corner, Kate Winslet, who plays the movie's main antagonist Jeanine Matthews, gives fans a glimpse of what they could expect to see in the film adaptation.

SugarScape posted an article about Winslet's interview with Total Film magazine. The actress talked about her experience playing a villain. She said, "I play a baddie. I play a real baddie. And I'm really mean."

She added, "It was really great - just to do something so totally and utterly different. It was a futuristic sci-fi with the most fantastic script, and it's really based on the idea that in the future you no longer come from a family but you come from a faction, and there are five different factions. My character Jeanine is the head of the intelligence faction, but she also wants to take over the whole world."

Winslet also revealed during the interview that she is a fan of the Divergent novel by Veronica Roth. She commented, "What I loved about it too is that it doesn't matter how old you are or what's happening in your own life, we will always all want to come from somewhere and belong somewhere, and come from something in order to count."

But even if the actress will be playing a "baddie" against Shailene Woodley's Tris Prior character, Winslet shared her wisdom to the young star while they were on-set. Woodley also learned a thing or two about George Clooney when they worked together for "The Descendants".

She told Hitfix, "Kate said something to me once, 'People make it harder on themselves than they need to be. In life in general, but especially actors. They take themselves too seriously.' Kate and George are both there for the craft and the art of acting and they also just love to be around that environment. That's really refreshing because that doesn't happen with a lot of actors."

Divergent is scheduled for release on March 1st. The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of Chicago where people are divided according to factions based on their personality. The protagonist, Tris, discovers that she is a Divergent, which means that she carries attributes of multiple factions. She joins the Dauntless faction and goes on a dangerous during to uncover the secrets of their society and what it truly means to be a Divergent.
