R&B Singer JoJo Confesses She is Nervous About Music Comeback
During a recent interview with Yahoo! Beauty, 24-year-old R&B singer JoJo expressed her excitement over working on new music since being signed to Atlantic Records.
The Los Angeles Times reports JoJo signed to Atlantic Records in 2014 after a longstanding legal battle with her former label Blackground Records, which refused to let her out of her seven-album contract deal.
Background reportedly stopped backing JoJo's music after her third album, but still required her to stay signed to the company until she released seven albums.
Although it took many years of legal woes to finally be released from her Blackground contract, JoJo says she is happier than ever but still nervous about making new music.
JoJo recently released three singles which she calls her "tringles." She is excited to hear the fans' review of her music.
"I smiled all day when I announced my 'tringle.' It was really exhilarating," JoJo told Yahoo! Beauty."I flew from San Francisco to Los Angeles in one day and did a performance. It was very surreal to see what I've been fighting for come to fruition. I know it's the beginning of the next chapter. I also may have shed a tear or two -- so many emotions!"
She added,"It's pretty wild to be 'coming back' at 24!"
"There's a whole group of young kids who grew up listening to pop music and they don't know who I am. I think it's wonderful because they're so in tune with social media."
Yahoo! Beauty reports that since debuting her tringle last Friday, JoJo became the No. 1 trending search on iTunes. Publications such as Billboard, Time, the Los Angeles Times, and Entertainment Weekly have all given positive reviews on Jojo's new music which is influenced by house and dance music.
JoJo's tringle features her new songs "When Love Hurts," "Say Love," and "Save My Soul."
