Seattle Seahawks' defensive end Michael Bennett expressed his frustration on why even the not-so-impressive football players get to have high pay, just because they are quarterbacks.

Bennett aired his complaints when he was a guest on 710 ESPN.

"Quarterback is the only position in the NFL where you could be mediocre and get paid. At every other position, you can't be mediocre. If I was (Miami's) Ryan Tannehill and the most games I ever won was seven, how could you get a $100 million for that? I guess that's the value of the position... There's some mediocre quarterbacks in the NFL that make a lot of money. You take a guy like (Eagles passer) Sam Bradford -- he's never played really in the last three years, but he's made more money than most guys in the NFL," Bennett told 710 ESPN's "Brock and Salk" program.

Looking at the chart provided by OverTheCap.com, it's clear that the top 16 highest paid NFL players yearly are quarterbacks, excluding Miami Dolphins' defensive man, Ndamukong Suh. They also get to be paid from $17 million to $22 million a year, with Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers leading the pack from his 5-year deal worth $110 million in April 2013, as ESPN informed.

This concern may really be frustrating for Bennett who knows he can deliver more compared to the players who are playing in his position. He did not participate in the Organized Team Activities as he was hoping that his absence will get him a raise or a new contract from his team, Seattle Times reported. Bennett reportedly wanted to be a part of the Seahawks but he also desired to receive what he feels is due for him.

"Somewhere near the top seven at my position, top eight at my position... I just want to be in the realm of the guys that play like me. There are only so many guys that do what I do, and I would love to be like somewhere in there where they are at," the 29-year-old defensive lineman said in May.

In March 2014, Bennett signed a four-year contract worth up to $28.5 million, with $16 million guaranteed, giving him an average salary of $7.125 million. Basing on his statements and citing OvertheCap.com, he was looking into a pay of around the $10 million mark, the Times noted.
