NBC's "Heroes Reborn" released an extended First Look video clip that shows a deeper behind the scenes peek at the new reboot of an iconic television show.

The reboot will kick off in a world where Evos or evolved humans, bigger in number now more than ever, are "prosecuted and hunted," creator and executive producer Tim Kring revealed in the clip. In "Heroes Reborn," those who possess special powers find themselves in danger and constantly looking over their shoulder.

"This is 'Heroes' like you've never seen it before," Greg Grunberg said. "This is 'Heroes' on steroids."

Gruberg, who plays police officer Matt Parkman, is one of the few returning stars from the original "Heroes" series. There are plenty of familiar faces to keep the long-time fans happy including fan favorite Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, Jack Coleman as Noah Bennett, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinder Suresh and Cristine Rose as Angela Petrelli.

While many will tune in to see their favorite characters on the screen once again, the old cast are quick to say that the reboot will focus on the plotline of the new heroes. The thirteen-episode season will introduce the new faces by way of the old. It is, as Oka put it, a "passing of the torch in many ways."

"This is about the new 'Heroes,'" Ramamurthy explained in the clip. "And we're kind of here to help them start this journey."

The video shows a new set of heroes for "Heroes Reborn" who look to be as intriguing as the previous cast. Zachary Levi of "Chuck" is introduced as a dark man named Luke Collins, who looks to be the central antagonist of the show.

Other characters are introduced in another new promo dubbed "Be Extraordinary." Robbie Kay joins the cast as young boy Tommy who is plunged into danger after discovering his newfound superpowers. He makes friends with Gatlin Green's Emily, but soon finds himself on the run from Luke and Joanne played by Judith Shekoni.

"Heroes Reborn" is produced by Universal Television, Imperative Entertainment and Tailwind Productions, according to Coming Soon. Creator Tim Kring serves as writer and executive producer, while Peter Elkoff and James Middleton also fill in as executive producers.

"Heroes Reborn" is slated to premiere on September 24, 2015 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
