Although actor Bryan Cranston has recently been praised for his dramatic acting abilities following the success of the hit show "Breaking Bad," he was originally a hilarious father in the hit Fox sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle." That is why he is the perfect person to act as a nemesis to James Franco in the upcoming comedy film "Why Him."

According to Deadline, the comedy will return the actor back to his roots as a suburban father who has a daughter away at college. Franco plays a billionaire from a tech company that has a brash attitude and egotistical outlook.

The brash young Franco becomes romantically involved with Cranston's daughter and this of course will lead to the clash.

In the beginning of the film, Cranston will load up his family to take a road trip to visit with his daughter at her college. But things go from bad to worse when the father meets her stylish tech boyfriend. It is the father himself that vies for the attention of his daughter who is about to make her way in the world and has left her family behind in a cliché American way.

What ensues is the eventual clashing of the father and the boyfriend over the young woman. Cranston will stop at nothing to make sure his daughter stays on the right path, even if that means taking the rich boyfriend out of the picture in some way.

But Franco has other plans, and his ego leads him to feud with the father, matching him at all turns.

The screenplay was churned out by John Hamburg, whose resume includes "Meet the Parents" and "Zoolander," both of which made actor Ben Stiller a household name for comedy.

Production for the film begins in February, and there has been no word yet as to when it will be released.
