Agent Jack Thompson will be returning to join Agent Peggy Carter on her next mission when ABC's "Agent Carter" returns for Season 2.

According to HNGN, Chad Michael Murray will be returning to reprise his role of Agent Thompson for the show's upcoming season.

Murray took to Twitter on Aug. 26 to make the announcement to his followers and fans of the show. The actor explained that he is currently filming a movie in New Mexico, but would be moving on to begin filming for the series in a few days.

During Season 1, audiences watched as Thompson, a World War 2 veteran, and Carter, played by Hayley Atwell, constantly argued about Carter's abilities as an agent since she is a woman. By the end of the season, however, the two characters were on good terms, with Thompson eventually learning to respect Carter.

When Season 2 returns, audiences will watch Agent Carter and her crew, including Jarvis (James D'Arcy) and Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), relocate to the Hollywood SSR headquarters and take on another Marvel villain, Madame Masque.

The role of the new female villain, who will be the biggest challenge for Carter yet, has reportedly been casted, but the name of the actress who will be playing her has not been released.

According to /Film, the character has been altered to fit the time period of the series since her Marvel timeline aligns her with Tony Stark and not his father.

"I think we've changed the look of her a bit obviously," explained Butters. "We've made her an actress, which is very Hedy [Lamarr]. She was a '40s siren actress who was also a scientific genius, so that's part of what we're mining with this character."

Season 2 of "Agent Carter is set to return January 2016 and will be expanded to 10 episodes instead of eight.
