"Son of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter has earned quite a name in cable network television. So much so that his home network FX has uniquely positioned him so that when he pitches an idea for a show, it gets fast-tracked to the top. That of course is what's about to happen with a new "Sons" spinoff series that is rumored to be coming to FX in the near future, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While Sutter's new series "The Bastard Executioner" was so quickly run through the network's upper echelon, the hit-maker has reportedly been in talks to create and feature the "Sons" spinoff for the network he has worked with since their original hit, "The Shield."

The spinoff, which has not been officially confirmed yet and most of the details have been kept top-secret by Sutter and FX, will notably feature the Mexican American biker gang "The Mayans," and the details have not been disclosed.

What fans of the show already know is that the Mayans and the Sons had left off on a good note, meaning they were not at war with each other like they had been is so many previous seasons. With Jax Teller now dead, there is a good chance that the Mayans will have risen to gained more power in northern California.

There have been rumors that some of the Sons may cameo in the series, but again, there has been no confirmation for this.

Sutter is still in talks for this project and the confirmations will only come when he and the network decide on the final details.

He is currently spearheading the launch of "The Bastard Executioner," which will be debuting on the FX network this fall. Sutter's main writing credits include "Sons," "Bastard" and "The Shield," which was a show spearheaded by creator Shawn Ryan. Sutter also wrote the screenplay for the Jake Gyllenhaal film "Southpaw."
