The Ashley Madison data leak continues to create problems as the CEO for Avid Life Media, Ashley Madison's parent company, has resigned, CNet reports.

Avid Life Media announced Friday that CEO Noel Biderman has stepped down as CEO and left the company.

"This change is in the best interest of the company and allows us to continue to provide support to our members and dedicated employees," Avid Life Media said in a statement. "We are steadfast in our commitment to our customer base."

Ashley Madison's customers have not been confident of the company in the past couple weeks. A hacking group, calling themselves the "Impact Team," hacked into the Ashley Madison website, and was able to obtain company data and personal information from its over 30 million members in July. Ashley Madison members sought confidential affairs on the website, but the Impact Team threatened to release all of the data if the website was not taken down.

When Ashley Madison refused to comply to the Impact Team's demands, the hackers leaked the data through a massive dump of information that was nearly 10GB in size.

Avid Life Media is trying to recover from the hack and has offered a cash reward of $377,000 for information leading to the arrest of the hackers.

Biderman founded the site in 2001 and called himself the "king of infidelity," but insisted he never cheated on his wife and did not want to, Wired reports.

He lied. Emails discovered from the hack showed he was cheating with a Toronto escort he met at a spa in 2012. The escort broke off the cheating arrangement when she thought her boyfriend might figure her out.

Other leaked emails show that Biderman tried to arrange encounters with other women as well.

The combination of the hacking scandal and his own private data being released to the public left Biderman with no other choice than to step down.
