The hit spy thriller "Homeland" on premium cable network Showtime has released an electrifying trailer for the show's fifth season. To say the least Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) thought she was out. That was her first mistake, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Season 5 takes fans two years into the future, with Carrie successfully exiting the C.I.A. and carrying on with her life as a private contractor for a security firm, living in Berlin. But matters go from bad to worse for her when she is implicated in a security breach from her old stomping ground.

In the beginning, she seems to be living a happy life with her child, and everything seems to be perfect for her. That is when she is forced to take her high-profile, billionaire client into a war zone for private matters, which puts her right back into the action.

When a hacker breaches the C.I.A. database, he steals information that directly implicates the agency in confidential spying on the Germans. The information can be disastrous for the U.S. if it gets out.

Carrie is photographed talking with a woman who was involved with the hack and is consequently thought to be the perpetrator.

Just when she thought she was out, they pulled her back in.

Carrie must now help the agency find the hacker and bring back the stolen files in order to set things right. No matter what she does, she always seems to be a target for them, and one way or another, she always gets back into the spy business.

The montage of shots in the trailer clearly indicate that she is back in the game, and this time, she seems to be in it to win big. It's a last hurrah, so to speak. She still has her old attitude and tries her best to do the right thing, which sometimes leads her into trouble.

Season 5 premieres on Oct. 4. See the trailer below.
