Woman Ends Her 4 Liter Per Day Coca-Cola Habit, Loses Over 100 Pounds
A woman in England blamed her addiction to Coca-Cola for her weight. By stopping her four liters per day consumption of the soft drink, she was able to shed over 100 pounds, New York Post reports.
Sarah Turner of Kingstanding, Birmingham was consuming 424 grams of sugar per day by drinking so much Coca-Cola. After cutting it from her diet, she was able to lose 112 pounds and drop eight dress sizes.
Turner is 27 years old and a mother of three. She admits that she still does not eat fruits and vegetables, but is now using the Slimming World weight-loss program.
"I was most definitely addicted to Coke. I could just drink it all day and not think about the effect it has on my body," Turner said.
Turner says she drank Coca-Cola for almost 10 years before finally giving it up, Daily Mail reports. Turner said that her weight problem caused her to be tired and unable to play with her children.
"I have loads of energy. I love going out walking anywhere, whereas before I never did. I also enjoy actually going clothes shopping - now I can fit in normal-size clothes," she said.
Turner says that she takes her kids to the park regularly now. Before losing the weight, Turner was embarrassed to go to the park because there were other mothers slimmer than her there.
Turner went from 245 pounds to 126 pounds by following a diet that allows her to eat potatoes, baked beans and protein-filled food. The diet also allows Turner to drink diet soda to replace the Coca-Cola. It took Turner about a year to take off all of the weight, KUTV reports.
A spokesperson for Coca-Cola Britain said that their products are designed to be enjoyed responsibily, and there are other options with less sugar than Coca-Cola.
"To help people make the right choice for them and their families we offer a wide range of drinks including low and no sugar options such as Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero, a range of pack sizes and we've adopted the government's voluntary front of pack labelling scheme," the spokesperson said.
