‘Reign’ Season 3 Spoilers: Catherine de Medici Tells Queen Elizabeth ‘Scotland's Queen Will Fall’ [Watch]
The CW released the first trailer for "Reign" Season 3 titled "Elizabeth Cometh" on Friday, showing that the future and life of Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane), Queen of Scots, is in grave danger.
The trailer starts with Mary and King Francis (Toby Regbo) standing outside of the castle in daylight.
"England is still a threat,' Mary says to Francis.
The next scene shows Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) looking into the camera, saying, "My sweet cousin, Mary, will suffer my wrath."
Elizabeth is then shown seated on her throne in front of the English court.
"You want to undermine Scotland's queen because Mary has a right to your throne," a nobleman among the English court says to Elizabeth.
Francis is shown sword fighting with a man whose identity cannot be seen since his back is to the camera.
Mary stands looking out a castle window at night, saying, "Elizabeth's war is with me."
"I will help you, Mary, for as long as I can," Francis promises her in the next scene.
"I can't take on two queens," she says to Francis, looking exasperated.
In the final scene, Catherine de Medici (Megan Follows) vows to Queen Elizabeth, "Scotland's queen will fall."
Queen Elizabeth is determined to knock Mary off her throne, and with the ruthless Catherine on her side, it seems that she has the upper hand. How will Mary defeat these two cunning foes?
While Francis is willing to help, he is in ill health. Who else can Mary rely on to help in the battle?
It was previously reported that Mary's scheming mother, Marie de Guise (Amy Brenneman) will return in "Reign" Season 3 for at least an episode. We also know that Nostradamus (Rossif Sutherland) will return to the French Court for a few episodes. Both could be strong allies to Mary in her defense against Queen Elizabeth and her calculating mother-in-law.
"Reign" Season 3 airs Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
