Mortal Kombat X Xbox 360, PS3 Gameplay, Release Date: Game Not Coming to Older Consoles?
Mortal Kombat X will be exclusive to next-generation systems. The last generation systems of Xbox One and PlayStation 3 will not be able to play the game due to quality issues, Inquisitr reports.
Many months ago, Warner Bros. representatives explained that porting Mortal Kombat X to the last-generation consoles would be handled by High Voltage, not Mortal Kombat X developers NetherRealm Studios.
"NetherRealm is not developing the PS3/360 versions," Warner Bros. said, according to Cinema Blend.
"High Voltage is our partner focused on developing the PS3/360 and the team is giving those versions its full attention. All platforms for this game are built on NetherRealm's tech with oversight from the NetherRealm. [it] has allowed the studio to keep 100 percent focused on developing for next-gen and maximize the potential of Xbox One and PS4."
NetherRealm's goal was to keep the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Mortal Kombat X at 60 frames per second to ensure excellent visual quality. It remained a question if that same frame rate was going to be possible for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
An admin on the Mortal Kombat X forum made an official announcement on the issue:
"After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game. We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned.
"If you pre-ordered Mortal Kombat X for PS3 or Xbox 360, please go to the retail location where you pre-ordered the game and you will receive a full refund."
