‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Spoilers Season 1, Episode 3: Madison Emerging as Leader [Watch]
The tension of Episode 1 for "Fear The Walking Dead" created a slow burn effect on audiences, but in Episode 2, the show ratcheted up with herds of zombies. Episode 3 will be titled "The Dog" and will air on cable network AMC Sept. 13 at 10 p.m. EDT, according to TV Guide.
This episode skips a week, and next Sunday will feature a repeat of Episode 2 in its place. The show will continue the following week with this all-new episode, which will bring the story to a more tension-filled climax.
According to Spoilers Guide, the dangerous nature of the last episode has left Travis (Cliff Curtis), Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez) and Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) at the mercy of hospitable shop owners, as they get caught in the middle of a protest that was responded to by Walkers.
They now must contend with getting back to Madison (Kim Dickens) in some way, but they are holed up for safety. They seek refuge with the Salazars and fight against all odds to either stay hidden or safe.
Staying safe is the ultimate theme for Madison in this episode as well. She must take extreme measures to defend her home, which will likely lead her to shed any naïve feelings she once had and quickly learn what it will take to put those monsters down for good.
An article on TV Guide details how Madison will soon be emerging as a leader for the survivors of the LA apocalypse. They have already moved beyond the point of saving other peoples' lives and now live in a world where they either survive or get eaten. There are no other alternatives at this point.
Co-creator and executive producer for the show Dave Erickson revealed how they move forward with what they must do in this new world.
"We have an opportunity with Madison in particular," Erickson told TV Guide. "The first instinct of our characters isn't to grab a heavy object and bludgeon these people. It's a place we have to build to. ... She is somebody who will get up to speed relatively quickly."
