'Saved by the Bell' Screech Actor Dustin Diamond Ordered to Pay Over $1,000 in Restitution in Bar Fight Stabbing Case
"Saved by the Bell" alum Dustin Diamond was ordered to pay more than $1,000 in restitution by a judge after being found guilty earlier this year for stabbing a man during a bar fight last Christmas.
Diamond, who is best known for playing Samuel "Screech" Powers on the popular '90s sitcom, was convicted in May of two misdemeanor counts in connection with a stabbing that occurred in a Port Washington bar on Christmas night 2014.
An Ozaukee County jury found him guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct but cleared him of a felony charge of recklessly endangering public safety.
On Tuesday, Diamond appeared in court for a restitution hearing where he was ordered to pay "$372 to Aurora for services rendered, $261 for attending physician charges, $265 for ambulance services and supplies, and $150 for a coat/sweater," reports Fox 6 Now. In total, the fines add up to over $1,000.
The incident occurred in December 2014 when the 38-year-old actor was arrested in Ozaukee County for allegedly stabbing a man with a switchblade during a fight at the Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington on Christmas night.
In a criminal complaint, Diamond and his fiancée, Amanda Schutz, 27, stated that they got into a physical altercation with two men and a woman. Court documents show the victim suffered from a non-life-threatening, 1/2-inch wound under his armpit and heavy bleeding. However, Diamond told police he accidentally stabbed one of the men while trying to defend his fiancée.
Schutz was found guilty of one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and ordered to pay a $500 fine for her involvement in the incident.
Back in July, a judge granted Diamond's request to delay his 120-day sentence pending his appeal, reported The Associated Press.
Diamond is scheduled to reappear in court on Dec. 16 to track the appeal in this case.
