Chloe Grace Moretz has signed on to her first big film project, "The 5th Wave," which features her fighting against aliens that have essentially ended the civilized world, much in the same way zombies have ravaged "The Walking Dead" universe.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the story is a novel adaptation for a young adult audience and will play out in the same sphere as such films as "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent."

Moretz will play the young heroine in the film and will not only fight to save her family but will be caught in the middle of a doomed love triangle so inherent to young adult stories today.

She fights at all odds to save the people she cares about, and rescuing her brother is her top priority. But to make matters worse, the aliens are now infiltrating the human race by essentially possessing their bodies.

In the beginning, they started the human apocalypse by taking out their power grid. That eventually evolved to igniting natural disasters, spreading deadly viruses, and once the human numbers dwindled, they put their own alien boots on the ground.

The decimated landscape is what her character must survive against.

The trailer starts out with her entering a gas station and finding another boy with his gun raised to her. She also had her gun raised to him, but they soon figure out they are not possessed, and the trailer moves forward with the eerie feeling of doom and terror around every corner.

The film is slated to start a trilogy franchise that will no doubt lead to a strong box-office haul. The first film will debut in theaters on Jan. 15, 2016.
