Wireless Debit Card? New iOS 7, Android Device Revolutionizes Money & Transacations
Are you tired of carrying around a bulky wallet filled with credit and debit cards? Have you always wanted to travel a bit lighter? What if I told you that one app and a little piece of plastic could manage to merge both your smartphone and wallet. Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, such a product exists. It's called the Loop, and this revolutionary device manages to make buying merchandise safer than ever.
Interested? First you'll need to go to the App Store or Google Play store (in Q2) and download the LoopWallet application. Once installed, feel free to fire up the app. You'll then be able to simply input your credit and debit card data into the secure Loop app. In order for the app to work you need to type in the full card number, plus the expiration date and three-digit security code on the back. You'll also be required to take a picture of your credit card. Again, don't worry as all this information is encrypted and stored locally (meaning on your device only.) Your credit card information won't be uploaded to a server. And you can add as many or as little cards as you want onto the app.
Ready to start utilizing the Loop in your everyday life? Well then, just head on over to a store that accepts with credit and debit cards. You'll need to bring the fob with you and plug it into your device's headphone jack. Then when it's time to pa,y just hold your phone near the credit card terminal's card reader. You need to hold your phone within three inches of the reader. The Loop will wirelessly interface with the magnetic card reader and trick the device into thinking that you physically swiped your card. Magic! You can pay for all your merchandise anywhere in the world without ever having to carry around your actual charge cards. No NFC required thus no need for Google Wallet.
Interested in buying the Loop? Well you have two models to choose from. iPhone and Android smartphone users can buy the plastic Loop Fob. iPhone users also have the option of buying a Loop charge case. The Loop Charge case combines three devices in one: protection for your invaluable iPhone, 60 percent extra battery life and the Loop Fob.
The Loop Fob and the Loop Charge case can be purchased here. The Fob costs $40 and the case, when it's released in April 2014, will retail for $100. Both items are competitively priced in my opinion.
