New ‘Daily Show’ Promo Shows Trevor Noah and Correspondents [Watch]
Trevor Noah has officially taken over "The Daily Show" from the legendary Jon Stewart, and the new promos are already starting to surface. In the latest, Noah and Stewart's remaining three correspondents have a comical exchange, according to Deadline.
What is apparent right from the beginning is that Comedy Central is trying to make sure that fans know that "The Daily Show" is still going to be everything that it once was, even with Noah as the new headlining star. It did so in comical fashion as well.
The spot portrayed Noah walking into what appeared to be a break lounge for their workplace, where he met with the correspondents, who were comically trying to appeal to their new boss. Noah, who is from South Africa, had what appeared to be a calm and inviting exchange with the correspondents, where they talked about how nothing was going to change and the show would move forward in much the same way it always did.
The promo itself took a different direction, though, when Noah's pronunciation differed from that off the American dialect in regards to the word "zebra."
Noah pronounced the word, emphasizing the use of "e" as a flat syllable, sort of like "zehbra." This came after he assured the correspondents that nothing was going to change. He then corrected their pronunciation of the word "giraffe" as well.
Noah has also confirmed that he will be continuing to take pot shots at Fox News coverage of events, which was a major staple for Jon Stewart during his tenure.
"The Daily Show" is looking to make its mark in the streaming world as well, with news that Baratunde Thurston has been hired to spearhead the new endeavor, which would put their content online and bring new, original content to their fans via the web.
