ABC network executives have reportedly "set their sights" on ousting Whoopi Goldberg from the moderator's chair of the suddenly ratings-challenged "The View" show.

"The claws are out for Whoopi," a source told RadarOnline. "She's now starting to get the blame. Everyone is beginning to realize they should have let Rosie (O'Donnell) have control."

The 59-year-old seemingly won a power struggle with O'Donnell earlier this year when the latter abruptly quit the show to deal with the stress of her faltering marriage. Before announcing her resignation, the two frequently butted heads on and off camera.

"Everyone regrets the way Rosie was blindsided," the source added.

Reports claim show bosses now want Goldberg to leave, but she has been begrudgingly slow to take the hint.

"Whoopi is too smart and greedy to leave on her own," said a source.

The apparent stalemate has forced the hands of executives, who recently announced they are bringing back former stalwarts Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd in a desperate attempt to save the show.

"By having Sherri and Joy back, they basically admitted giving Whoopi total control was a disaster," the source added.

The show is also hoping to smoothly part ways with first-year host Raven-Symone, who has managed to anger many fans with some of the stances she has taken since becoming a cast regular.

"They want to find a graceful way for her to exit," said the source, adding that it is hoped Shepherd does well out of the gate and Symone "will have a movie or TV show as a reason to take only a contributor title."

Ultimately, it is hoped that the return of veterans Behar and Shepherd can at least stabilize the show in terms of slowing the ratings hemorrhage, thus allowing execs to "make gradual changes throughout the year."
