'Fifty Shades Darker' News Update: Dakota Johnson Reveals New Updates
Dakota Johnson has revealed new information about the upcoming "Fifty Shades Darker."
Johnson, who is currently at the Venice Film Festival promoting her new film "A Bigger Splash," said that she was first afraid to accept the role of Anastasia Steele when she was cast for the first film. She told Empire News, "It's quite exciting. There was a moment of being afraid, because I didn't know what it was going to be like. I had an experience with Sam [Taylor-Johnson] and then that all went away."
Regarding the new director James Foley she said, "Now I'm excited. I think James (director James Foley) is a talented filmmaker. How often do you get to reconvene with the same people and have a different spin?"
The new film is slated to start filming at the beginning of next year and casting is about to begin. For now Johnson is super busy with the release of the critically acclaimed "Black Mass," which also stars Johnny Depp and is slated to be a huge Oscar contender. Her other film, "A Bigger Splash," also made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and that film stars Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes and Matthias Schoenaerts.
"Fifty Shades Darker" will also star Jamie Dornan, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford and Victor Rasuk. Author E.L. James, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing the project, while James' husband, Niall Leonard, wrote the script.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is set to be filmed simultaneously with the third installment "Fifty Shades Freed." Both films will follow in the footsteps of "Fifty Shades of Grey," which made $166 million domestically and over $500 million worldwide. The movie will continue Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele's turbulent relationship.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is set for release on Feb. 14, 2017.
