Horror movies have been known in the past to feature Christmas themes, although it is rare. But now, "A Christmas Horror Story" has taken the theme as its sole feature for a kind of "anti-Santa" movie, which features the legendary tale of the Krampus from folklore.

According to the horror website Bloody Disgusting, the film has a lot of momentum heading into the action, which features the star power of legendary "Star Trek" actor William Shatner.

The recently released trailer shows that the Krampus creature is not the only horror to be featured in the film. Santa Clause is portrayed as a warrior for the good of the people, who fights against the odds to beat back or destroy the evil that plagues the town of Bailey Downs on Christmas Eve.

The action unfolds when the Krampus is summoned by a young boy in the movie. The creature is best known for being the horrific punisher of naughty children. But when the effects reach the North Pole, Santa's elves start to contract some sort of plague that turns them into ghoulish, zombie-like creatures. Santa has his work cut out for him, fighting the battle on two fronts.

The film features a fantastic blend of Christmas spirit and horrible creatures that terrify the town.

Here is the official description for the film:

"CHRISTMAS: a time of Joy, Peace and Goodwill, unless you happen to live in the town of Bailey Downs. Here, on Christmas Eve, joy is corrupted when a malevolent spirit traps three teens in a school basement intent on recreating a twisted version of the Nativity story. Peace is shattered when a family returns from a snowy forest with the perfect Christmas tree only to find something is terrifyingly wrong with their seven-year-old son. And goodwill is perverted when a not-so-nice family is hunted down by Krampus, the demonic anti-Santa Claus of Nordic mythology. Even Santa Claus himself is drawn into the horror when he has to fight off a horde of howling Zombie Elves before making his rounds. This Christmas, the creatures are stirring and they're coming for you whether you're naughty or nice."
