Sofia Vergara has come a long way from her "Chasing Papi" days. The Colombian star has been named one of the world's highest paid television actresses, for the fourth consecutive year.

According to Forbes, Vergara is tied for first place with Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting from "The Big Bang Theory" after both actresses earned a whopping $28.5 million.

Vergara, who began her career as a model, is now one of the most popular Latinas on television. Her role of Gloria in the ABC television series "Modern Family" helped make her one of television's most prominent stars.

The 43-year-old has not played coy about her money-making status. In fact, the actress has publicly stated that she sees nothing shameful about making a lot of money, reported People.

"I'm not ashamed to say I love making money," she told Glam Bellaza Latina.

"I like business, and the truth is I save way more than I spend. I invest. I plan for the future. I have a special eye for opportunities and work harder than anyone might expect. It is fun to shock people with my business ideas. Most people just see me as Gloria."

Vergara's hefty paycheck is due mostly to her work on "Modern Family," but also includes income from her various deals with beauty brands like CoverGirl and Head and Shoulders.

Not only is the star's paycheck a huge accomplishment, but so is being the highest paid Latina and the only Latina on the list of top 15 actresses.

While the actress may receive some criticism for playing a stereotypical Latina on the show, the actress explains she is aware of how she is perceived.

"I think that the concept of being sexy and smart is difficult for many to grasp," she said. "Most people are more comfortable with the notion of 'sexy bimbo.' And I have to admit that I've capitalized on that to negotiate a couple of times. When the 'smart ones' think I have no idea what I can deliver, I end up costing them more."
