Harry Potter and Grand Theft Auto. Not usually two things you would associate, except for the fact they are two of the biggest franchises in recent pop culture.

A few months ago it was announced Daniel Radcliffe would be appearing as the maker of the famous (or infamous) franchise in a film to be released by BBC. Now the trailer has finally arrived.

However the film will not be without controversy a lawsuit seems to be in place against BBC for trademark infringement.

"Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar's parent company) has filed [a] suit against the BBC for trademark infringement based on their movie currently titled Game Changer as it relates to Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto video game series," says a report by Rocca News.

"While holders of the trademarks referenced in the film title and its promotion, Rockstar Games has had no involvement with this project.

"Our goal is to ensure that our trademarks are not misused in the BBC's pursuit of an unofficial depiction of purported events related to Rockstar Games.

"We have attempted multiple times to resolve this matter with the BBC without any meaningful resolution. ... It is our obligation to protect our intellectual property and unfortunately in this case litigation was necessary."

The movie centers on Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser as he does battle with Florida lawyer Jack Thomas who is looking to get the game out of circulation and file a lawsuit against its creators.

The game franchise, which allows players to steal cars, murder innocent people and engage in sex with prostitutes has had a massive following, signaled by its record breaking sales. The recent Grand Theft Auto 5 was the fastest entertainment property to breach $1 billion in sales. It was also the fastest session video game in 24 hours and the highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours.

However, the franchise has had its opponents, particularly on Capitol Hill who have pointed to its violence as a means toward desensitizing youth toward heinous acts and crimes.
