Although there has already been a prequel made to the remake version of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," the new prequel will be an original story as to who the killer "Leatherface" was as a young teenager.

According to horror news site Bloody Disgusting, the new film "Leatherface" will be a direct prequel to the 1974 version of the original film by Tobe Hooper. It will delve into how the character Leatherface emerged as the grown up psychopath that was featured in the original film.

"Chainsaw" was one of the most horrific and frightening movies of its time back in the '70s and has spawned several sequels which includes remakes, reboots, sequels and spinoffs. Although the original film was loosely based off the real life person Ed Gein, the film itself has emerged as a cultural phenomenon among horror fans worldwide.

The new film will feature the origins of Leatherface as a young teen and his exploits that led him to become a merciless killer with an utter disrespect for human life.

In the film, he is described as a violent teen who is locked away in a mental institution. He eventually escapes with three other teens and they kidnap a young nurse on their way out. The movie plays out with them on a joyride with the nurse, who is put through a living hell with the teens and the boy who would grow up to become Leatherface.

They will also be chased down by an equally deranged lawman that has issues of his own.

The film will star Stephen Dorff, Vanessa Grasse, Sam Strike and Lili Taylor ("The Conjuring").

There has been no word yet when production for the film will start or when it will be released, but the film's IMDb page indicates that it will be released sometime in 2016; however no specific date mentioned.
