Apple iPhone 6s vs. Samsung Galaxy S6: Which Smartphone Wins?
Samsung may have the advantage over Apple in a flagship battle. Samsung released its Galaxy S6 earlier this year and consumers have had the chance to test it out. Apple waited until Wednesday to introduce their latest flagship device, the iPhone 6s. Which phone wins the battle for the best flagship device?
The iPhone 6s stuck to its 4.7-inch screen. This is bigger than earlier iPhones, but still not 5 inches or higher. Samsung uses a 5.1-inch screen in the Galaxy S6. Besides being 0.4 inches bigger, the Galaxy S6 also has a sharper display. The Galaxy S6 will display 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and 576 pixels per inch. The iPhone 6s will only display 1,334 x 750 pixels and 326 pixels per inch. The Galaxy S6 uses a Super AMOLED display while the iPhone 6s uses a Retina HD display.
The 16 megapixel (MP) camera in the Galaxy S6 is capable of taking quality pictures. The Galaxy S6 is also capable of taking 4K videos. Apple finally updated its camera on the iPhone 6s to 12 MP and showed off the excellent photos it can take at their press event Wednesday. The iPhone 6s will also be able to take 4K videos and will have a unique feature called Live Photo, which will make it look like pictures are moving when looked at. The only advantage that the Galaxy S6 has over the iPhone 6s is the wider aperture lens at f/1.9, compared to the iPhone 6s' f/2.2.
When looking at battery life, the Samsung Galaxy S6 wins the battle. Samsung includes a bigger battery at 2,550 mAh. The iPhone 6s wanted to stay as slim as possible and has just a 1,810 mAh battery. With the bigger battery, the Galaxy S6 can provide up to 20 hours of talk time, while the iPhone 6s can only give up to 14 hours of talk time.
When lookng at speed, the Galaxy S6 is slightly faster with its 2.1 GHz Exynos processor. Apple is using the brand new A9 processor at 2.0 GHz.
For RAM, the Galaxy S6 includes 3 GB of RAM, while Apple finally upgraded to 2 GB of RAM for the first time ever.
Samsung and other Android phones have been offering wireless charging solutions for quite some time now and the Galaxy S6 can be charged wirelessly as well. Apple still does not provide a wireless charging solution for its iPhones.
It looks like Samsung has the upper hand on Apple for now. Once the iPhone 6s makes its official release, a final verdict on the phone can be made.
