Jessica Simpson's last candid interview happened during CNBC's "Closing Bell" wherein her revelations were more of surprise than sweet.

According to the Us Weekly, Jessica was asked about her biggest mistake when it comes to her finances, where she answered, "The biggest money mistakes? I don't know, for some reasons, I thought of my first marriage!" This comment was then followed by laughter from the star.

More than 10 years ago, Jessica and Nick were married at the height of their careers, even penning a contract to make a newlywed reality show. Somehow, their relationship went downhill from there.

Nick Lachey is now married to Vanessa Minnillo and they have been together for four years. They have two children: Camden, 2, and Brooklyn, eight months. The 98 degrees singer has been happily married since 2011 while Jessica Simpson was in two serious relationships before she settled with Eric Johnson. They have two children: Maxwell, 3, and Ace, 2.

Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have been estranged for a long time that the former mentioned during his interview with Jenny McCarthy that they absolutely have no communication with each other. In his interview, he said, "I wouldn't say its friends, and I wouldn't say its enemies, there's just no contact. We both moved on with our lives. It's not animosity. It's not friendship; it's just kind of nothing."

Jessica Simpson was at the 10th anniversary of her clothing brand when she made the revelations about her apparent "money mistake." The singer turned big-time fashion entrepreneur may now worth thrice than she was when she was married to Nick, but her biggest mistake, she said, was her marriage with him.

According to E! Online, Jessica has since learned her lesson, saying, "My business manager [and I have] been together for 16 years now. I trust him with everything. We've made really great investments. We haven't really had any mistakes."

Jessica was also confident that her business is thriving and that she's ready to take another billion dollars in the next five years.

While she doesn't always know where some of her money goes, she's also confident that the people around her can be trusted. In her interview, she said, "I don't always know where all of my money is, but there are people that I love that know where all of my money is."

Her confident words could be an assurance that she is more careful where her money is going as well as her investment decisions.
