'Dancing With the Stars' Season 18 Premiere Date & Cast: Erin Andrews Replaces Brooke Burke-Charvet as Host; Why?
ABC Entertainment has confirmed that Fox Sports correspondent Erin Andrews will replace Brooke Burke-Charvet as Tom Bergeron's co-host in the upcoming season of 'Dancing With the Stars.'
"We can confirm that Brooke Burke-Charvet will not be joining us next season," Conrad Green, the show's executive producer, told ABC News. "She's been a wonderful part of the 'Dancing With the Stars' family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We'd like to thank Brooke for her years of great service."
The network has not stated any reason for the host replacement.
Brooke earlier tweeted about getting kicked out of the show saying, "weird day....Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS...ME. @TomBergeron didn't even read my name. I won't be returning to the show this season."
But she did clarify that she was somehow okay with being replaced in another tweet. "So much chatter bout DWTS. I'm really cool, everyone. I did my 7 seasons, had a blast! I'm ready for change. I love your loyalty. Thank you!" Brooke told fans.
Brooke was a competitor on the show way back 2008 and according to the LA Times, she also won the Mirror Ball trophy in 2007 with then partner Derek Hough.
Newly announced 'Dancing With the Stars' Season 18 host Erin Andrews has also competed on the show. The sports reporter and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy took the third spot during the Season 10 of the show, way back 2010, notes the LA Times.
Although Erin will be hosting the ABC show's 18th run, she has confirmed thru Twitter that she will still be working for Fox Sports.
The sports reporter initially tweeted, "Very excited! I have HUGE shoes to fill RT @GMA: #DWTS Announcement: Joining @Tom_Bergeron as a co-host this season will be @ErinAndrews!
"And yes, I'm still a part of the @FOXSports family..it will be a BUSY fall..getting tips from @michaelstrahan on how to balance it," she said in another tweet.
ABC Entertainment also announced that the show will have a new music director to replace Harold Wheeler. According to ABC News, Ray Chew will now be in-charge for music starting the March 17 episode.
Fans of the show can expect for a cast reveal March 4 on 'Good Morning America.'
