Powerball Numbers and Results Sept 12, 2015: Watch Live Stream of Drawing for $167 Million Jackpot
Saturday’s chance to make big money playing Powerball is here. The grand prize is currently at $167 million, with a cash value of $106.3 million.
Last Wednesday’s winning numbers were 44, 45, 47, 50, 51 and 8. There were 524,645 regular winners, and $8,236,464 in non-jackpot money was won.
There are actually nine ways to play Powerball. Though the odds will likely change in October, currently there is a 1 in 175,223,510.00 chance in winning the grand prize and a 1 in 5,153,632.65 chance in winning $1,000,000.
So the odds of winning are slim, but people do win. The main thing a Powerball player has to do, outside of checking the numbers, is hold on to the ticket.
KHOU has reported that a $2 million Powerball winning ticket was sold at a Shell gas station in Houston.
Javed Maredia, a co-owner of the gas station that sold the ticket, described the excitement of learning about the win. "I was speechless for a while at what happened," he said. "It was like unbelievable for us!"
News of the win has affected business. "Everybody wants to try their luck at the lucky store and I know now this is the lucky store!" Maredia added.
In other lotto related news, AL.com has reported that Alabama legislation, which would have allowed for a public vote to establish a Powerball-like lottery, has died in a state Senate committee.
The bill was killed when a majority of senators in the Tourism and Marketing Committee voted against it. Senate leader Del Marsh urged the committee to kill the bill, as he did not want to see any gambling legislation as part of the ongoing second special session.
