WWE Rumors: 'The Hardy Boyz' Returning to World Wrestling Entertainment?
The WWE is not done bringing back "Attitude Era" tag teams as Inquisitr reports that the wrestling company is interested in giving The Hardy Boyz a reunion. The Hardy Boyz are real-life brothers Matt and Jeff Hardy and one of the most popular tag teams of all time.
They were part of the three biggest tag teams of the "Attitude Era" along with The Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian (E&C). The Dudley Boyz recently returned to WWE last August on a full-time basis to boost the tag team division.
According to a report from WWE, E&C also returned for the "Stone Cold" Steve Austin podcast wherein the Hardys were mentioned. The three teams revolutionized the tag team division with the Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match or commonly known as the TLC. Each weapon is the specialty of each tag team, The Dudley Boyz like to put people on tables, The Hardy Boyz are great high flyers and uses ladders while E&C use chairs to perform the "Con-Chair-To."
According to Inquisitr, the Hardy brothers are interested in returning to the WWE if the time and deal are right. Rumors of a return were speculated after The Hardy Boyz won a WWE survey of who the fans want to see for one more match.
Matt Hardy also tweeted something of a teaser when The Dudley Boyz and E&C reunited in a backstage segment along with the WWE Tag Team champion, The New Day. The brothers currently have a deal with TNA Wrestling, which is seen as an obstacle.
Inquisitr also reports that Jeff's deal with TNA is until February 2016 while Matt has a per-date deal. Matt can negotiate with the WWE anytime while Jeff might need to wait until his deal expires or have his contract bought out.
This is not the first time that the six-time tag team champions are returning to the WWE. After debuting in 1998, Jeff was first released by the company in 2003, per SLAM! Sports, then in 2005, Matt was also released, according to articles from SLAM! Sports. Jeff cited being burned out while Matt was involved in an infamous personal love triangle with WWE Diva Lita and Edge.
However, Matt would later return after fans wanted him back. Jeff also returned in 2006 and had successful singles run, winning the Intercontinental and WWE championship multiple times. Jeff and Matt would later be released in 2009 and 2010 respectively, per SLAM! Sports.
According to The Wrestling Observer via Inquisitr, when the WWE name drops past superstar, they end up coming back in some capacity. The report also said that the Hardy Boyz would want to sign WWE Legends deals while the WWE would want at least Jeff Hardy to return full-time and be available for Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas as his star power could help in ticket sales.
