‘Jungle Book’ Teaser: Disney’s Live-Action Remake Unveils Stunning New Clip [Watch]
The first footage of Disney's "The Jungle Book" was released over the weekend, allowing a glimpse of the rich, awe-inspiring world and the wild boy himself, Mowgli.
Buzz has been getting louder for this reboot after new images were released at the D23 Expo, according to a report from Cinema Blend. So far, the visuals have been on point for "The Jungle Book" with a flawless blend of sharp realism and vivid enchantment.
In a six-second Vine video from Walt Disney Studios, the lush jungle was unveiled as stunning as the audience hoped. Although short, the footage included vivid snapshots of Mowgli's home: the rippling river, dense vegetation, the shadowy depths of the jungle and thick vines hanging from ancient trees, all creating a beautiful, yet dangerous sanctuary.
"The Jungle Book" is a live-action remake of the 1967 animated classic based on a collection of stories by British author Rudyard Kipling, according to E! Online. It tells the story of a young man-cub Mowgli who was raised by a family of wolves. When he is driven out of his home by tiger Shere Khan, he begins an epic journey with his best friends, the panther Bagheera and lovable bear Baloo.
Newcomer Neel Sethi leads the film as the wild boy Mowgli. The first-time star is backed by a proven cast of thespians including Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Bill Murray as Baloo, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha and Christopher Walken as King Louie.
Directed by Jon Favreau, "The Jungle Book" is an ambitious movie, but one that sets itself apart from its beloved predecessor.
"It is going to be a very different experience in that it's much more visceral," Kingsley told E! Online during the D23 Expo. "You feel the threat of the jungle, as well as the beauty of the jungle. You feel the power of those beasts as well as the story that they have to tell. You feel that there is something very muscular and vivid about those animals."
He continued, "When the elephants came onto the screen, the audience gasped because they do look like a herd of elephants. You cannot imagine that that was created in a laboratory. It's almost impossible to believe that you're watching computer-generated images."
Favreau agreed with the sentiment saying it feels like "an animated movie with a human element in it."
"You get all of the excitement and the exhilaration of an animated film but the photorealism and the connection to it of a live-action film," he explained.
"The Jungle Book" is slated to be released on April 15, 2016.
