A few "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" trading cards have made some interesting revelations about three major characters -- Finn, Rey and Kylo Ren.

This is what we have know to this point. Finn lights up Luke and Anakin Skywalker's old blue lightsaber, which seemingly cannot stay with its rightful owner. However, many have wondered whether that qualifies him as a Jedi, or merely someone who has the weapon and uses it for defense.

For those wondering, it is rare to see anyone aside from a Sith or Jedi light up the laser sword. In the original trilogy, Han Solo lit it up to save Luke from the ice cold of Hoth, and in "Revenge of the Sith" General Grevious was the only character that was not of either the light or dark side of the force to use a saber.

Many have expected this to be the case with Finn, and his trading card, which does not have a Jedi symbol below his name, seems to confirm this (see picture above).

Compare it to Rey's card, which has the Resistance symbol on it, just like Finn's, but also has a Jedi symbol (the green one), implying that she is going to become a Jedi at some point. However, there have been no images of her lighting up the sword. Rumors have it that she rejects being a Jedi, and that she will eventually transform as a character to embrace her role as one.

This runs counter to what Luke and Anakin did during their respective journeys. Luke fully embraced his desire to be a Jedi, but struggled to overcome his own weaknesses, whereas Anakin was overly ambitious to fulfill his destiny as the greatest Jedi ever, only to fall apart in the face of his limitations and weaknesses. With Rey, it could be a matter of fearing her weaknesses or even potential great power. She may eventually have to come to terms with that fear.

The Kylo Ren card is the most interesting of all however. There is no First Order Symbol on his card, but instead there is another symbol that looks quite similar to that of the Sith Lords (the red one). Director J.J. Abrams has stated that Ren is not a Sith Lord, but instead one of the Knights of Ren. While the Knights of Ren likely exist, this does not mean that they are not Sith Lords. Remember when Abrams said that Khan was not in "Star Trek: Into Darkness"?

Of course, these are ultimately trading cards, and there is no guarantee that they follow the movies themselves, though it would be hard to conceive that they are that far apart.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" comes out in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
