While there are still a few years left until the release of the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, new details have arrived.

During an interview with the Digital Spy, Kaya Scodelario said that the new film, subtitled "Dead Men Tell No Tales," will be similar to the first film, which is considered a classic. She said, "It [does have] a lot more of the first movie, that's what they wanted to bring it back to.

"[The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines."

The actress also spoke a little about her character in the film. She said, "[Carina] is an astronomer, and she is an academic. She's fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn't at that time. So she's on her own journey -- looking for the Trident of Poseidon -- and she has a diary with clues, and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up. As he does. And it's fun!"

Disney wants to continue the franchise, and this film is being considered a reboot and a fresh start. The last three films in the franchise were heavily criticized for their overstuffed plots and for lacking the fresh tone that the 2003 film had.

Additionally, the fourth installment, "On Stranger Tides," was the lowest-grossing film in the franchise in North America. The movie only made a total of $241 million and while it still did well internationally, the total was $60 million short of the first and third installments. The second installment, "Dead Man's Chest," is still the highest-grossing of the franchise domestically as it made $423 million.

Disney is trying to rejuvenate the franchise, which has already suffered from franchise fatigue, and hopes that the inclusion of Orlando Bloom will excite audiences again. However, it will be interesting to see how audiences react with no Keira Knightley, who was a main part of the original trilogy.

The fifth installment has the benefit of getting a new crew and new directors, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, who come from indie films. They directed the Academy Award-nominated film "Kon-Tiki," as well as "Marco Polo." The movie will also be written by Jeff Nathanson, who also wrote "Rush Hour" and "Tower Heist."

The upcoming film stars Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem as the villain. The movie is scheduled for July 7, 2017.
