‘Fear the Walking Dead’ News: How Long Will Survivors Last in Los Angeles?
Now that "Fear the Walking Dead" has successfully descended into total chaos and utter ruin, the characters will have to learn how to survive in a broken landscape that now doubles as a human buffet.
According to Forbes, that will be a much different process than the survivors of "The Walking Dead" outside of Atlanta.
What fans of "The Walking Dead" know all too well is that a major metropolitan area is no place to be in a zombie apocalypse. Once they start turning, then there are not many places to run and hide. They are bitten by the masses and transform into massive hordes of zombies that swarm at the remaining food they have left, which basically means that survivors stand no chance.
In Atlanta, the surviving characters fled to the countryside and there was a lot of cover for them when they were being chased through forests full of trees, bushes and an abundance of vegetation. The hordes were somewhat smaller in numbers as well, with the biggest concentrations of zombies in Atlanta.
In the first season of "The Walking Dead," fans saw right away what Rick Grimes had to go through to survive the downtown area. It was no gravy train and they came at him from every direction. As a matter of fact, you could almost say that his survival from that tank was pure luck.
Viewers can expect the same thing and more for people that live in Los Angeles in "Fear the Walking Dead." It is the second largest city in America and if it is taken down by zombies, survivors stand no chance if they stay. But what's even more troublesome is that they do not have much of the forestry cover option either.
Fleeing to the desert may be their alternative. In any case, they will see them coming from greater distances. But hiding from them will prove to be harder than for those in the Georgia back woods.
This issue is what begs the question for the series: How long can they last in or around Los Angeles?
Time will only be able to answer that question and it might be Season 2 before they start heading out of southern California to a safer place.
