‘Supernatural’ Season 11 Spoilers: Winchesters Make Unholy Alliances to Fight the Darkness
The running theme for season 11 of the mega hit CW show "Supernatural" is "You can't outrun your past," according to executive producer Jeremy Carver. He sat down and spoke with TV Line about season 11 of the show and how this season is going to change the whole direction of the show.
Fans of the show have been waiting a long time to see Sammy (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) get back on the same page -- to be the same hunters they were in seasons one through seven, before all the other elements starting screwing up their dynamic. This season will be the first in a long time that the Winchester brothers get back to good. They're back on the same side on a level playing field.
But that level playing field is only with each other, as their new enemy is the pre-biblical Darkness, which they released and share culpability for. This means that they will have to make alliances with the entities they used to hunt and kill because they will all be inferior compared to this new big bad.
"I'll just say that The Darkness is of such enormous order of Big Bad for us, in terms of its power, that I don't think it's talking out of turn to say that even the angels in Heaven and the demons in Hell are scared of what this thing could do to their way of life," Carver told TV Line. "Everyone's got a stake in figuring out how to deal with it."
That also means that they will not have much help from Castiel (Misha Collins), who will be spending half of the season trying to get out from under Rowena's (Ruth Connell) spell.
So the Winchesters will essentially be looking back to their past, seeking out some old characters that they have either defeated or killed, to help them defeat the Darkness. Carver did not get into specifics, and with 10 seasons of malevolent creatures under the heroes' belts, that help could be anyone.
