‘Man of Steel 2’ Sequel Plot & Rumors: Supergirl & Bizarro Appearance Confirmed?
Word around the industry is DC Extended Universe has slammed the door on a "Man of Steel" sequel, but these rumors are reportedly untrue. More details were recently revealed, most notably the presence of classic comic book characters Supergirl and Bizarro.
According to a report from Heroic Hollywood, "Man of Steel 2" is still on the table and the plot details are coming together behind the scenes. Brainiac is set to be the main villain of the next instalment. The genius alien is said to be after the same thing General Zod was chasing in the first movie: Superman's genetic codex of the Krypton race.
The catch is, Brainiac will not even have to go after Clark Kent to get his hands on the codex. After all, there is another Kryptonian, who survived the planet's destruction: Kara Zor-El. Superman's younger cousin is in possession of the codex too, making her incredibly vulnerable to supervillains. Further reports say that Brainiac's attempts to capture Supergirl will urge him to create Bizarro, Superman's duplicate.
The news comes in time as Kara Zor-El is set to make her debut on television on CBS. However, fans expected to see the television stars transition to the movies is likely to be disappointed. The film and television worlds will remain entirely separate in the DCEU, according to a report from IGN. This is the alternate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which consistently threads its big screen adaptations with the television shows, particularly with "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
A separate report from Heroic Hollywood reveals more speculations on the upcoming sequel. Since the DCEU has a slew of films lined up for production, the "Man of Steel" sequel is expected to get a release date in 2019 or 2020.
The team has not yet been set, but "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Zach Snyder approves one man rumoured to take the helm.
"George [Miller] doing one of the DC movies? Oh my God, absolutely," Snyder said in an interview with News.com.au. "George can do anything he wants, in my opinion. We haven't talked about it, and to be frank I just didn't know what he was thinking of doing next. But yeah, if I was to think he had any interest in them of course I'm happy to talk to him."
The critically acclaimed Miller has had his name attached to the project for a while, especially after fellow director Jon Schnepp told Popcorn Talk that the "Mad Max: Fury Road" director would be taking the reins for the sequel.
