'Star Wars Episode 7' Plot Spoilers - Will We Have 'Rogue One' and Episode 8 End Credit Sequences?
Disney will do it again.
One of the most common traits of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that it forces viewers to sit in their seats long after the main feature has ended. Why? Because of the now-famous end credit sequences that have everyone giddy and excited. This, of course, serves as a nice way to do two things -- pump up audiences for upcoming installments while also getting current viewers to come into the theater to watch their current films to know exactly what is going to happen in the next episode.
It seems that Disney will be utilizing the same tactic on another one of its properties -- "Star Wars."
It is a bold new movie for a franchise that has never utilized this tactic before. There are obvious reasons behind this.
For one, the first six "Star Wars" movies were released three years apart and there was usually never a chance to have preview footage to screen ahead of upcoming installments. The first "Star Wars" in 1977 was not supposed to be a success and the two sequels were always up in the air.
The prequels could have used the tactic, but at that point the marketing machine was so strong that it seemed unnecessary.
This method has been popularized by Disney in its Marvel films and seems to be a way for the company to put a stamp on its products. Moreover, the company is producing a film every year so it is far easier to include previews for other movies during the end credits.
What is interesting, however, is that there could also be a clip from the upcoming "Episode VIII" in the new film since director Rian Johnson is currently on Skellig Island filming some scenes for the film. If rumors are true and Luke Skywalker only appears in the final scene, this might be a way of leaving fans somewhat satisfied at the brief appearance of such an essential character in Star Wars lore.
The truth will be revealed on Dec. 18, 2015.
